Marc Marquez ‘upset and angry’ with Jorge Lorenzo after FP2 contact

Marc Marquez says he was "upset" and "angry" with his Honda team-mate Jorge Lorezno following an FP2 incident for this weekend's Australian Grand Prix.

The pair made slight contact in the practice session, with Marquez coming up behind a slow Lorenzo and as they met at the apex of the corner, Marquez's shoulder hit Lorenzo's bike, causing a small piece to fall off.

Marquez then pulled alongside Lorenzo later on and made a "sleeping" gesture at him, with the pair then exchanging words.

Marquez though insists there's "no problem" between them following post-FP2 talks.

"Of course, in the first moment I was upset," said the Spaniard. "I was just speaking with him. Of course we have a good relationship. We discussed the accident because he was on a slow lap and I was approaching on a fast lap, we cannot forget that, OK, it's FP2, but it's like a qualifying practice and you need to be in Q2.

"I knew that was my only lap with the soft tyre and the rain was coming very fast. He was in the middle of the [racing] line and unfortunately we had small contact. Fortunately for both of us there was no crash and that's important.

"When you're riding a slow lap you need to be out of the way. In the end we need to pay attention, because we cannot ride in a 'slow mode' in the middle of the line.

"Of course, he will say there was no space. But you need to check behind, you need to understand and be out of the racing line. Apart from that, I was angry at first, but then I was in his office and we speak together. No problem."

Lorenzo was unaware Marquez was on a quick lap behind him, adding:  "I didn't look back so I didn't know that I had three or four riders behind me.

"After that corner I couldn't do so much more, I was completely on the inside and he was probably a little too close to me on that corner because he wanted to improve his time. He then just touched me."
