HWA Racelab's Jake Hughes has slammed driving standards from the FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race which followed in the wake of the death of Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert.

The second F3 race of the weekend was the first on-track action after Hubert's fatal crash and the British driver felt there was a lack of respect between the drivers during the 17-lap race.

There were numerous accidents in the race, one of which involved Hughes after he was taken out of the race by Trident's Devlin DeFrancesco at Les Combes, this led to a penalty to five-place grid penalty at the next race in Monza for the Canadian-Italian driver.

Alexander Peroni was also handed a five-second time penalty after making contact with Simo Laaksonen which subsequently led to a puncture and a heavy crash at Blanchemont.

Stewards found the Australian should have been more aware of the situation and left more margin to prevent an accident.

ART's Christian Lundgaard also criticised driving standards as he screamed down the radio after Jenzer Motorsport's Yuki Tsunoda made a late defensive move on the Kemmel straight.

Expressing his views on the race on social media: "The driving standards in that FIA Formula 3 Race 2 were well below par, especially after what happened yesterday,"

"At tracks like Spa and next week in Monza you need a lot of respect for one another and at the moment I don't see much respect out there."
