AF Corse secures front row lockout in GTE Pro qualifying

Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado have taken GTE Pro pole position for tomorrow's 4 Hours of Silverstone. The pair posted an average time of 01:54:171 in the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.

The time was enough to beat out their team-mates Davide Rigon and Miguel Molina in the #71, whose average time of 01:54:302 was not quite enough to take pole after a late fast lap by Pier Guidi beat out Molina.

The Italian pair did battle with the two Aston Martins, with the #97 of Maxime Martin and Alex Lynn coming closest to defeating them. Ultimately, the duo had to settle for third ahead of the partially repaired Porsche of Richard Lietz.

Lietz' team-mate Gianmaria Bruni had a scary high-speed spin at Farm Curve before scattering debris from his left front at Stowe. This brought out a red flag.

Reigning champions Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen will be starting their title defence from fifth place, with Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim bring up the rear in the #95 Aston Martin.

In GTE Am, TF Sport were virtually untouchable after the restart, with Charlie Eastwood bring the team's average down to 01:56:034, which put him three-tenths clear of reigning champion Egidio Perfetti in the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR.

AF Corse led the session early on thanks to a strong lap by Nicklas Nielsen, but once Francois Perrodo took over, the team wasn't able to mount a challenge to Eastwood and had to settle for third. The #54 sister car will start from fourth, while the top five was completed by the #77 Dempsey-Proton Porsche.
