Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has revealed that Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon, as well as incumbent Romain Grosjean, are on the shortlist of drivers for 2020.

Kevin Magnussen holds a 2020 race deal but team-mate Grosjean, who has been with Haas since it joined Formula 1 in 2016, is out of contract.

Hulkenberg’s three-year deal with Renault expires at the end of this season while Ocon has been overlooked for a Mercedes seat in the wake of the team retaining Valtteri Bottas, though has been linked with a move to the French outfit.

When asked whether Hulkenberg was an option, Steiner said: “I would say so. There are not many drivers here.

“Our team always have drivers with experience, so for sure there is interest, there is interest for Ocon.

“I always said that they are the two, and there is interest for Romain as well, so we just need to decide who we go with.

“They are the three with experience, otherwise I couldn't see anyone else who has got experience who is on the market.”

Haas has endured a troublesome season on-track, amid a lack of pace from its VF-19 in race trim, while off-track its new-for-2019 title sponsor Rich Energy had internal strife.

The parties are set to meet after next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix to determine the future of the relationship.

“They have calmed down, and now we'll see where they go from here,” said Steiner on the future of its title sponsorship.

“First you need the calm to then make a rational decision, and then it will be decided.

“At the moment they are on here, obviously as you can see, so we need to decide, well they need to decide whether they want to go or not us.

“With their decision, then our one will follow that we need to do, and that should happen in the next week or so. And this time, it will happen properly.

“I had another meeting with them yesterday in London and that's what we agreed to, to decide which way to go.”
