Antonio Felix da Costa will be replacing Pastor Maldonado in JOTA Sport's LMP2 line-up for the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Da Costa, who contested the 2018/19 Super Season with BMW Team MTEK, will be filling in for Maldonado after the Venezuelan announced that he was unable to reach a 'balance agreement' with the team. Da Costa will be joining Anthony Davidson and Roberto Gonzalez in the #38 ORECA 07-Gibson.
The team might need to search for another replacement driver, however, as Da Costa's ABB FIA Formula E Championship commitments will likely clash with the WEC drive. While it is yet to be confirmed, the Portuguese driver is likely to join DS Techeetah to replace Andre Lotterer, who will be leaving the team to drive for Porsche.
Da Costa is free to explore employment with other teams as the former Red Bull junior recently severed ties with BMW, ending a six-year relationship that recently saw him race for both BMW Team MTEK in the WEC and BMW i Andretti Motorsport in Formula E.
The 27-year-old is no stranger to JOTA's LMP2 program, as he competed for the team in the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona alongside Alex Brundle, Ho-Pin Tung and Ferdinand von Habsburg, finishing fifth overall.
