Oliver Rowland set the pace in free practice two ahead of qualifying for the first race of the season-closing double-header New York City E-Prix.

The Nissan e.dams driver set his best lap time at the very end of the session, completing a 1m 09.695s run around the 2.373km-long Brooklyn Street Circuit, beating Antonio Felix da Costa to the top spot in the session.

Da Costa, who held the fastest time for most of the 30-minute session, trailed Rowland by 0.083s to front a 2-4 result for BMW i Andretti Motorsport in what currently looks like a competitive weekend for the Ad Diriyah race winners.

Sebastien Buemi, who was second fastest in FP1, ended FP2 with the third-fastest time in the second Nissan IM01 to split the two BMW drivers, the Swiss racer trailing his session-topping team-mate by 0.141s.

Paris E-Prix race winner Robin Frijns completed the top five for Envision Virgin Racing despite spinning in Turn 1 while team-mate Sam Bird was seventh, the pair split by Mahindra Racing rookie Pascal Wehrlein who was sixth fastest.

Jerome d'Ambrosio was eighth in the second Mahindra M5Electro, 0.589s off the pace while Felipe Massa was ninth for Venturi. Mitch Evans completed the top 10 for Jaguar, 0.815s off the pace.

Outside of the top 10 Edoardo Mortara was 11th while impressive pace from Tom Dillmann saw the NIO Formula E driver end FP2 with the 12th fastest time.

Jose Maria Lopez was the lead GEOX Dragon driver in 13th, heading Daniel Abt and Gary Paffett who completed the top 15 for HWA Racelab.

Championship contender Lucas di Grassi edged ahead of title rival Jean-Eric Vergne in FP2 with the Brazilian securing the 16th fastest time while the Frenchman was 17th after having his best lap spoiled by traffic and a subsequent lock-up.

Maximilian Gunther followed Vergne in 18th while Oliver Turvey, Andre Lotterer, Stoffel Vandoorne and Alex Lynn rounded out the field.
