Juri Vips became the FIA Formula 3 Championship's fourth different polesitter of 2019, delivering Hitech Grand Prix with pole position at Silverstone.

While the 18-year-old Estonian would end up with the fastest time of the session, it was Prema Racing's Marcus Armstrong who initially held provisional pole position, the Kiwi setting a pacy 1m 44.504s lap early on.

Armstrong's lap was quickly beaten by Niko Kari before Vips shot to the top of the timesheets, again setting the fastest time of the session with just under three minutes of running remaining.

In the dying stages of the session, the Estonian was beaten by Pedro Piquet before Robert Schwartzman, in turn, beat the young Brazilian. Armstrong then beat his Prema team-mate at the wave of the chequered flag to regain provisional pole despite having a brief off late on.

While it appeared to be an Armstrong pole, Vips improved once again to post a 1m 43.902s lap, claiming pole position and four bonus points to further advance his championship campaign after winning in Austria two weeks ago.

Armstrong, meanwhile, ended qualifying as Vips' nearest challenger, 0.096s adrift of the Estonian while Jehan Daruvala completed the top three, 0.112s slower than Vips in the second Prema.

Christian Lundgaard completed the second row of the grid by qualifying in fourth for ART Grand Prix while Leonardo Pulcini was fifth in the second Hitech Grand Prix entry.

Schwartzman, who briefly held the fastest time, ended up in sixth at the end of the session while Liam Lawson was seventh, the 17-year-old heading Piquet, Fabio Scherer and Ye Yifei who completed the top 10.
