Jorge Lorenzo will take no further part in the Dutch TT weekend held at Assen due to fracturing his back in FP1 on Friday morning.
Lorenzo suffered a high speed crash at Turn 7 towards the end of the 45 minute session, banging his head on the tarmac as he landed. He was then forced to head to the local hospital at Assen for a series of medical checks to establish whether he would be able to take any further part in the weekend.
It was confirmed in the early stages of FP2 though that the Mallorcan would have to forego any further running during the weekend, with a fractured back causing his forced exit.
The injury could also put Lorenzo's participation in next weekend's Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring in doubt.
Missing the Dutch TT is nothing short of a disaster for the struggling Lorenzo, who was in the process of testing a new upgrade package for his Honda as he continues his search for confidence with his RC213-V machine.
He managed the 18th quickest time in FP1, but will now have to wait until at least Saturday in Austria to continue further evaluation.
