Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya have won the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic at Belle Isle ahead of the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac of Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani.

In an incident-filled race with five safety cars, Cameron held off pressure from Nasr to break Cadillac's undefeated streak in Detroit. Cameron was able to take the lead away from Mazda Team Joest's Tristan Nunez shortly after the third safety car.

The Penske driver then held onto the lead in the second round of pitstops before both Mazdas got involved in incidents that saw them end up in the wall. The pair of Acuras were headed for a 1-2 finish before Nasr passed Ricky Taylor in the closing stages.

The pair of JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillacs had a strong showing, finishing an impressive fourth and fifth. Felipe Albuquerque brought the Mustang Sampling Cadillac home in sixth, while the Nissan DPi of Colin Braun finished in seventh position. The Juncos Racing and Konica Minolta Cadillac came eight and ninth, while Oliver Jarvis' Mazda limped home in tenth.

In GT Daytona, Zacharie Robichon had a good start in the Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. The Canadian then handed over to Patrick Long, who soon found him under attack by Jack Hawksworth's brightly coloured Lexus RC F GT3. Hawksworth eventually passed Long and kept the lead until the chequered flag to take the win, with the sister car of Townsend Bell coming home in third place.

Andy Lally finished fourth in the Magnus Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo. The top five was completed by Bryan Sellers in the Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini, despite a lap one clash with Scuderia Corsa's Cooper Macneill.
