Marco Wittmann has taken pole position for the first of two DTM races at Zolder.
The double DTM champion defeated Audi's Rene Rast to take the top spot with a time of 01:21:307. Rast, who won the second race at the Hockenheim season opener, completed the front row some four-hundredths of a second down with 01:21:349.
The pair of round one race winners had a comfortable gap to the second row, with Bruno Spengler second with a 01:21:614. He was followed by South African rookie Sheldon van der Linde, who set a time of 01:21:744.
Robin Frijns was fifth, with Timo Glock behind in sixth. The top ten was completed by Philipp Eng, Nico Müller, Joel Eriksson and Jamie Green. The latter briefly led the timing sheet in the early stages before being surpassed by Rene Rast.
Aston Martin had a difficult qualifying session. Jake Dennis was quickest of the four drivers, but a 01:22:215 was only enough for the thirteenth place on the grid.
The first race of the DTM weekend at Zolder starts later this afternoon at 13:15pm local time.
