Andrea Iannone has been passed fit ahead of the MotoGP French Grand Prix, after missimg the Jerez race with an ankle injury picked up in an FP4 crash
Aprilia rider Iannone passed a medical examination this afternoon at Le Mans that will allow him to re-join the fray for the fifth round of the championship.
The Aprilia man was forced to miss the Jerez race as a result of his injury, with the Italian team reverting to a two bike line-up for Aleix Espargaro and test rider Bradley Smith, who was already taking part in his second wildcard event of the season.
Iannone attempted to take part in the post-race test, but pulled out after experiencing too much pain in his ankle during an exploratory run.
Iannone has endured a tough start to his career at Aprilia, having scored just six points so far, his best result of 12th coming at the North American round held at Circuit of the Americas last month.
Team-mate Espargaro meanwhile has notched up a pair of top-ten finishes, including ninth at Jerez last time out, and currently sits on 18 points meaning he currently ranks eight places higher in the riders’ standings than Iannone heading into Le Mans.
