Robin Frijns and Alexander Sims will both have five-place grid penalties for the Berlin E-Prix on May 25 following a series of accidents during this weekend's Monaco E-Prix.

At the ninth round of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship's present 2018/19 campaign, both Frijns and Sims failed to finish inside the top 10, with both drivers getting caught up in a series of incidents.

Frijns, who was classified in 17th, five laps down from race winner Jean-Eric Vergne, was found to be responsible for his collision with BMW's Sims in Turn 1 in the dying stages of the race where the Dutchman launched an attack up the inside of the Briton, clattering the wall and sustaining terminal damage.

Sims meanwhile was penalised for a separate incident, with the British driver being deemed as the responsible party for Lucas di Grassi's retirement from the race in Turn 3, turning into the former champion who was running alongside the BMW driver at the time of the incident into the right-hander.

Alongside the five-place grid demotions, both Frijns and Sims will also have three penalty points added to their racing licences.

Elsewhere, Antonio Felix da Costa was disqualified from the Monaco E-Prix after exceeding his maximum power output during the final two laps of the race while Daniel Abt was handed a 33-second time penalty after it was found that the German driver caused an incident with NIO's Oliver Turvey.

Race winner Vergne was also fined €5,000 for failing to wear his safety belts correctly during the cool-down lap post-race, unfastening his belts during his celebration lap while Mahindra Racing's protests against Vergne and Oliver Rowland's post-race tyre pressures was rejected by the FIA.
