Ott Tanak has extended his Rally Chile lead, holding a 30.3 second advantage with 58 kilometres left to run on Sunday.

Tanak took two more stage wins for Toyota in another flawless day in South America, leaving second-placed reigning champion Sebastien Ogier far behind.

However the talking-point of Saturday was Thierry Neuville’s almighty crash [video] on the second stage of the day.

Neuville was closing in on second when his i20 hit the bank and rolled seven times, with Hyundai initially fearing the Belgian had broken his leg.

Both Neuville and co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul escaped without serious injury, although Neuville did receive several stitches in his leg.

This left Jari-Matti Latvala defending third from Sebastien Loeb with 3.9 seconds separating the pair before the Finn encountered a driveshaft failure on the final stage.

Latvala's issue occured after hitting a rock on the stage preventing the tremendous battle that was about to ensue against the Hyundai of Loeb.

Another blistering afternoon for Loeb means he is only 5.1 seconds behind Ogier going into Sunday.

Elfyn Evans sits in fourth, two minutes ahead of M-Sport team-mate Teemu Suninen in fifth.

Esapekka Lappi passed Andreas Mikkelsen for sixth, with Kalle Rovanpera in eighth as the leading WRC2 Pro competitor.

Rovenpera’s rival Mads Ostberg is 36 seconds behind in ninth with Kris Meeke bringing up the rear of the top 10.

Meeke ran wide on the opening stage of the day and hit a solid object, losing six minutes in the process.
