The opening hour of the 2019 TOTAL Six Hours of Spa Francorchamps was briefly hit by snow, forcing race control to bring out a safety car.
The race began dry, until rain and light snowfall occured less than ten minutes into the race, forcing drivers to pit for wet weather tyres. After approximately half an hour of green flag running, the snowfall significantly worsened, with the deployment of the safety car as a result.
When the safety car came out, Mike Conway was leading in the #7 Toyota ahead of the #3 Rebellion of Thomas Laurent and the #8 Toyota of Sebastien Buemi.
In LMP2, Racing Team Nederland's Giedo van der Garde took the lead in the opening laps and still leads ahead of G-Drive's Jean-Eric Vergne and TDS Racing's Matthieu Vaxiviere.
Antonio Felix da Costa currently leads GTE Pro in the #82 BMW, ahead of the #92 Porsche of Kevin Estre and the #95 Aston Martin of Nicki Thiim. Egidio Perfetti leads GTE Am for Porsche, with Paul Dalla Lana and Eddie Cheever behind for Aston Martin Racing and MR Racing.
