NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Haley will make his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut Sunday in the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, courtesy of Spire Motorsports. He'll become the sixth different driver to drive Spire's #77 in the first 10 races of the 2019 Cup Series season.
“This is a dream come true,” Haley said. “I couldn’t be prouder than to make my Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut with Spire Motorsports and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. The F.O.E. has supported my career since the beginning, and it feels like our program will come full circle when I make my debut on NASCAR’s biggest stage this weekend at Talladega. I’m incredibly grateful to both Spire Motorsports and the F.O.E. for this opportunity. I’m excited to get on track and see what we can do.”
Spire is in its first season of competition in the Cup Series. Jamie McMurray scored the team's first finish, to date, with a 22nd-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500 in February.
Haley's regular gig is driver of the #11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series. He'll pull double-duty at Talladega, as the Xfinity Series races there Saturday. The 2019 season is Haley's first as a full-time Xfinity Series driver after contesting three Xfinity races in 2018. He has six top-10 finishes in 11 series races, to date.
“Justin Haley is a proven winner and a future super star,” Spire Motorsports co-owner T.J. Puchyr said. “Justin has won at several levels and knows what it takes to compete with the best in the business. He’s a very talented, smart racer, so we’re confident he’ll do a good job this weekend.”
Haley is a three-time winner in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series in 50 races between 2015 and 2018. He also has three wins in 16 ARCA Menards Series races.
