Greg Biffle is returning to NASCAR on Thursday at Texas Motor Speedway, but he won't be racing. Instead, he has taken on the task of driving Kyle Busch's #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota in NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series practice Thursday for Friday night's Vankor 350. Busch will drive the truck in the race.
“So it’s been a few years and everyone’s been asking when… Tomorrow I will return to the track Texas Motor Speedway for some practice in the Kyle Busch Motorsports Team #51 truck," Biffle tweeted Wednesday.
The Truck Series has two practice sessions scheduled for Thursday – 3:05 pm to 3:55 pm (CT) and 5:05 pm to 5:55 pm (CT).
Biffle last competed in NASCAR in 2016. At the end of that season, he was released from Roush Fenway Racing. Biffle drove for RFR his entire NASCAR national-level career, which included competition in all three of NASCAR's national series.
His Truck Series championship season of 2000 included a win at Texas Motor Speedway, and he won NASCAR Cup Series races at the track in 2005 and 2012.
Busch is on the entry lists for all three NASCAR races at TMS this weekend, also including Saturday's Xfinity Series race and Sunday's Cup Series race.
Friday night's Truck Series race will be the fourth series race of the season contested by Busch. He won all three of his previous Truck Series races this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.
