Fernando Alonso say he is "really happy" after trying the Dakar Rally-winning Toyota Hilux this week.
The Toyota World Endurance Championship driver has been testing the car in South Africa in conditions representative of the Dakar Rally, alongside 2009 Dakar winner Giniel de Villiers.
It is Alonso’s first run in the Hilux and the Spaniard says he is already gaining in confidence in the car.
“I think we built up the speed a little bit, slowly lap after lap and getting more confident,” Alonso said.
“It’s obviously still difficult to read the bumps, how high they are and how much speed you can carry.
“The car feels great with very good grip and good balance, good power and braking as well so it feels amazing.
"So I’m really happy."
