Scott Dixon felt unable to find the ‘flow’ around CoTA

Reigning IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon admits he has yet to get into the 'flow' of the Circuit of the Americas after barely making the Firestone Fast Six in qualifying for the IndyCar Classic.

Dixon will line-up on the third row behind rookie team-mate Felix Rosenqvist for the second consecutive event after a difficult qualifying session around the 20-turn road course.

Throughout the weekend Dixon had been unable to get close to his Team Penske rivals at the top of the timesheets, he also spoke openly about issues his #9 PNC Bank car faced earlier on in the weekend.

The Kiwi believes the car was able to carry good speed throughout the session but was unable to ever nail the setup of the car to extract its potential over the course of a whole lap.

"I haven't really got the flow around this track," said Dixon. "I think the car is quite decent. Just needs somebody to steer it in the right place.

"We’ve seen with Felix (Rosenqvist). The car has some great speed and when I can piece a lap together, it's decent, but kind of been all over the shop.

"We had a bit of a rough start to the weekend with some issues on the car and never really recovered from that.

"All in all I will think it was fairly decent to make it here. Both my laps in the Fast Six, just started quite well. I was quite happy with the start of it but then it was just too many corners. Yeah, I think I was all right for half a lap."
