Robin Frijns posted the fastest time in free practice two ahead of qualifying for the Hong Kong E-Prix, leading the way for Envision Virgin Racing with a late session charge to the chequered flag.

The Dutchman set a best lap time of a 1m 09.221s to displace Nissan e.dams' Oliver Rowland from the top of the timesheets, with 0.257s separating the pair at the end of the 30-minute session.

Rowland, who topped a rainy FP1 in Hong Kong earlier in the day, ended up as the second-fastest runner of the session, with DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer completing the top three after showing consistent pace around the 1.860km-long circuit.

Edoardo Mortara, who secured his maiden podium finish in Formula E at the 2017 running of the event in Hong Kong, occupied fourth for Venturi while Sebastien Buemi completed the top five in the second Nissan.

Frijn's team-mate, Sam Bird, was sixth fastest in the second Envision Virgin car, 0.688s adrift of the session topper while reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne was seventh.

NIO's Oliver Turvey powered his NIO Sport 004 machine to the eighth fastest time of the session after struggling for pace in FP1 while Gary Paffett was ninth fastest. Daniel Abt completed the top 10 for Audi.

Alexander Sims was the fastest BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver by finishing with the 11th fastest time, with Antonio Felix da Costa ending the session down in 16th, the pair being separated by Lucas di Grassi, Felipe Massa, Tom Dillmann and Stoffel Vandoorne.

Mahindra Racing's Pascal Wehrlein was 17th while Jose Maria Lopez, who nudged the barriers at Turn 2 after running deep into the right-hander, was 18th fastest for GEOX Dragon.

Nelson Piquet Jr's 19th fastest time in the session reflected what has so far been a difficult weekend of racing for Jaguar, with Mitch Evans also struggling after coming to a halt in the early stages of the session, being unable to take part for most of FP2.

Current championship leader Jerome d'Ambrosio separated the two Jaguar drivers with the 20th fastest time while Felipe Nasr completed the field in the second Dragon in 22nd.
