Racing Point reveals tweaked livery for 2019

Racing Point has unveiled its new-look Formula 1 team during an event at the Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto on Wednesday.

The Canadian team, whose 2019 car is called the RP19, has also revealed a new title sponsor in the form of betting company SportPesa.

The Silverstone-based outfit officially entered the championship mid-2018 due to the convoluted manner in which the Lawrence Stroll-led takeover occurred, though it was ostensibly the same Force India outfit that finished fourth across 2016/17, with a history dating back to 1991 beginning with Jordan Grand Prix.

The Racing Point Force India squad overhauled Williams, Sauber and Toro Rosso to place seventh in the standings, despite only scoring from Belgium onwards.

Sergio Perez will continue to compete for the team, having taken five podiums since joining in 2014, and last year placed eighth in the standings.

Perez has been joined for 2019 by Lance Stroll, son of team co-owner Lawrence, who raced for Williams across 2017/18, taking a best finish of third in Azerbaijan in his rookie campaign.

"There is a huge amount going on behind the scenes and I would say it has been the busiest winter I can remember," said team boss Otmar Szafnauer.

"Not only are we delivering the new car, but we are also planning for the future and trying to improve our facilities and tools following years of underinvestment.

"We are expanding the current factory to accommodate a growing workforce and simultaneously planning the build of a new facility, which will also be located in Silverstone.

"These are not easy tasks and they require lots of energy and resources to deliver. But we are well aware that the focus of our key people needs to remain on the performance of the car and that’s very much the case."
