Jack Aitken will switch to Campos Racing for this year’s Formula 2 championship.
Aitken, backed by Renault Sport’s Academy since 2016, finished runner-up to George Russell in GP3 in 2017 and last year moved up to Formula 2 as his compatriot’s team-mate at ART Grand Prix.
Aitken started strongly, with a podium in Azerbaijan and win in Spain, but suffered a slump in form, taking only three points finishes after Monaco to slip to 11th in the standings.
Aitken will now link up with Campos for his second season in the series.
“I’m extremely excited to start working with Campos after a promising start in post-season testing,” said Aitken.
“They have the ambition and ability to compete at the very top, and although there’s plenty of work to be done I’m confident we’ll be up to it come Round 1.
“We are aiming for the top, nothing less.”
Aitken last year held the role of Renault’s Formula 1 test driver and received runs in the squad’s R.S.18 in Spain and Japan.
Aitken is Campos’ first signing for the new campaign, which begins in Bahrain at the end of March.
