Niko Kari remained atop the timesheets on the second day of the GP3’s final post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
The soon-to-be-defunct category has stayed on for three days of action at Yas Marina, running in parallel with Formula 2’s post-season test.
Ex-Red Bull young driver Kari, having led the way on Thursday, finished Friday’s two sessions with a best time of 1:54.683 for Trident, leaving him 0.006s clear of Campos’ Jehan Daruvala.
Fellow former Red Bull young gun Richard Verschoor was third for MP Motorsport, with Trident’s Logan Sargeant the only other driver to break into the 1:54s.
Linus Lundqvist ensured two Campos drivers finished inside the top 5, while Jenzer Motorsport pair Oscar Piastri and 2019 F3 signing Yuki Tsunoda sandwiched Trident’s Devlin DeFrancesco.
Campos’ Alex Peroni and MP Motorsport’s Lorenzo Colombo rounded out the top 10.
GP3 testing will conclude on Saturday, after which the series will be replaced by the new-for-2019 Formula 3 championship on Formula 1’s support bill.
