Nico Hulkenberg is reportedly "shaken" but uninjured following a dramatic opening lap crash during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Renault driver was battling Haas' Romain Grosjean on lap one when the two made brief contact at Turn 9. The contact was enough to force Hulkenberg into a double roll, with his Renault ending up upside down against a crash barrier.
Hulkenberg was trapped inside the car which had flames coming out the rear as marshals rushed to his aid.
"I'm hanging here like a cow… get me out of this car," he reported over team radio.
The medical car and an extraction team arrived within a matter of seconds and righted the car, allowing Hulkenberg to climb out under his own power.
The German was taken to the medical centre, but according to the FIA, he suffered no injuries.
"[He is] shaken up as you might expect but no injuries suspected," a spokesperson confirmed.
"He will be observed for a time then released. Dramatic incident but everyone did a great job."
RADIO: "Nico, are you ok?"
