Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda has said in a social media video posted by the team he is aiming to come back to work 'soon'.
The three-time World Champion has not been seen in the Formula 1 paddock after recovering from a double lung transplant operation in August after falling ill.
Since the operation, the Austrian has been recovering in hospital and recently at home in his native Austria. He has been in contact with senior members of the Mercedes team.
In the video, he spoke about how positive messages have helped him get home to recover with family and friends, also adding congratulations to Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team on a fifth consecutive world championship.
"Message to my team and my friends," said Lauda.
"As you all know I had a rough time from my health point of view and the support I got from all you people on my way was unbelievable, and I was out of bed quicker because I felt [good] to be home with big strong family and friends.
"Therefore the achievement of this year, outstanding. Five championships in a row, Lewis [Hamilton] again, [Valtteri] Bottas right there. We could not have done a better job.
"And now the important message is I'll be there soon and off we go, off we go there pressure comes for the sixth time.
"Thank you very much"
