After a strong start to his Formula E career earlier in the week, BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Alexander Sims topped the final day of Formula E pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain.

Sims, who will make his competitive debut in the all-electric single seater series this December at the inaugural Ad Diriyah E-Prix, topped the timesheets in the afternoon session of Day Three by lapping the 4.005 km-long circuit in 1m 17.402s.

DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne was Sims' nearest challenger on the third day, 0.218s adrift of the Briton while Panasonic Jaguar Racing's Mitch Evans completed the top three, a further 0.244s behind the reigning champion.

For Mahindra Racing rookie Pascal Wehrlein, it was the fourth fastest time in the final session after registering a 1m 17.888s lap while Geox Dragon's Maximilian Gunther completed the top five, a meagre 0.059s adrift of Wehrlein ahead.

Robin Frijns emerged in sixth fastest as the highest placed Audi powered Envision Virgin Racing driver while team-mate Sam Bird followed in eighth, the pair being separated by HWA Racelab's Gary Paffett who was seventh.

Nissan e.dams' Sebastien Buemi was ninth while Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi completed the top 10, 0.867s off the pace.

Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco missed out on a time worthy of a top 10 placing, 0.015s adrift of di Grassi. Jerome d'Ambrosio followed the Italian in 12th while Daniel Abt and the NIO Formula E pair of Tom Dillmann and Oliver Turvey completed the top 15.

Venturi's Felipe Massa was 16th while Daniel Juncadella, who stood in for Stoffel Vandoorne at HWA on Friday secured the 17th fastest time. Oliver Rowland, who replaced Alexander Albon at Nissan for pre-season testing followed in 18th while Nelson Piquet Jr, Andre Lotterer, Antonio Felix da Costa and Edoardo Mortara rounded out the field.

Full timings from the final session of Formula E pre-season testing can be found here.

With session six marking the final testing period of the week, Formula E will return in December for the first round of the 2018/19 campaign in Saudi Arabia ahead of the competitive debut of its second generation of racing.
