After topping the timesheets in the morning session of Formula E's opening day of pre-season testing, BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Alexander Sims maintained his pace and form around the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia to remain at the top of the timesheets in the afternoon.

Sims, who set a 1m 17.575s lap in the morning session, improved on his time in the afternoon to lap the circuit in 1m 17.533s, finishing ahead of DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer who trailed the Briton by 0.101s.

Sims' team-mate, Antonio Felix da Costa, finished with the third fastest time in the session, 0.174s off the pace, failing to complete a second BMW 1-2 after the Portuguese racer secured the second fastest time earlier in the day.

Following da Costa were the Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler pair of Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt who secured the fourth and fifth fastest times respectively, 0.179s and 0.266s adrift of the pacesetter.
