IndyCar has confirmed testing plans ahead of the 2019 season which will get underway with a two-day test at the Circuit Of the Americas.
The Texas permanent road course will host the only official pre-season test for the IndyCar series on Feb 12-13 with all full-time teams set to be present for the test.
Circuit of the Americas joins the IndyCar schedule for the first time, joining Texas Motor Speedway to make a second race in the lone-star state and will be the second event on the calendar on March 24 after the season opener in St. Petersburg.
Ahead of the month of May and track action getting underway at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway, teams are scheduled to test on the iconic 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on April 24 ahead of the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 26.
Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca returns to the IndyCar schedule after a 15-year absence and will host the final race of the season, the last official test of the season will take place on September 19 on the Thursday prior to the race weekend.
Each team is permitted three pre-season test days that must be completed by March 4, 2019.
The private testing period runs from Oct. 1, 2018-Sept. 11, 2019, with blackout periods around Thanksgiving and Christmas and within seven days of all race weekends except prior to the St. Petersburg opener.
Any full-season IndyCar Series rookie drivers are permitted two additional test days to be used by Sept. 11, 2019.
Teams which will contend the IndyCar Series for the full season may take advantage of an extra day to test current Indy Lights drivers.
Any new teams joining the IndyCar Series are also granted two additional test days.
A team with at least one full-season entrant in both the IndyCar Series and Indy Lights is also granted one additional test day.
Chevrolet and Honda will also each receive one engine manufacturer test day at any approved track other than the three where open tests will take place.
The 2019 IndyCar season will commence on March 10 in St. Petersburg.
