Sergio Jimenez and Caca Bueno have become the latest drivers to be confirmed for the inaugural season of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY which is set to commence this December.
Following the signing of Katherine Legge and Bryan Sellers to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing's entry for the coming campaign, the pair are the third and fourth drivers to join the series and will drive for Jaguar Brazil Racing.
As the five-time champion of Stock Car Brazil, Bueno hailed the opportunity to race in the all-new electric production car series as a privilege:
“Being among the first riders to race in the first official competition of electric car production is a privilege,” he said.
“Jaguar is making history by being at the forefront of premium vehicle electrification.”
Having competed in an array of championships including GP2 and Formula Renault 2.0 Brazil, Jimenez heads to the series with confidence, hoping to stand on the top step of the podium:
“I am very pleased to be chosen by Jaguar Brazil and to participate in this unprecedented championship," he said.
“Certainly this event will go into the history of world motorsport and to be part of it is fantastic. I have good tuning with Caca: we have been together for three years in Europe and we had many podiums.
“Now as team-mates I’m sure we’ll take the Brazilian flag to the top of the podium.”
The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will act as a support series for Formula E over the course of the all-electric single seater series' fifth season of competition, racing alongside the championship at 10 of the calendar's 13 rounds.
Pre-season testing for the competition commences this week at Silverstone Circuit while the championship will get underway on December 15 in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
