The British Grand Prix will start 90 minutes earlier than originally planned due to weather concerns, MotoGP organisers have confirmed.
The race was due to start at 13:00 local time, but has been moved to 11:30 in the hope of avoiding the worst of the weather. Moto3 and Moto2 have also been moved to 13:00 and 14:30 respectively – weather dependent.
Although rain is forecast throughout Sunday, the worst is expected to arrive at lunchtime.
Saturday's qualifying was also hit by showers and caused a multi-rider crash at Stowe that saw Tito Rabat hospitalised after he was struck by a rivals bike.
Riders have complained about the newly resurfaced circuit, which has proven to be bumpier than expected, causing water to pool on the racing line.
"I don’t like to say this, because I love racing, but if conditions are like in FP4, we cannot race," commented Marc Marquez. "And tomorrow the forecast is for much more water. The aquaplaning was amazing.
"The problem is the bumps. The water gets inside the bumps, then you have aquaplaning where you don’t expect, because you don’t have the same amount of water everywhere. Where the bumps are, there is much more water."
Some riders have suggested the race should be postponed to Monday, which is a bank holiday in the UK and could therefore accomodate fans.
