Sergio Perez: ‘Business as usual’ for Force India in Belgium

Sergio Perez has asserted that it will be “business as usual” for Force India at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix, amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the team.

Force India entered administration during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend as Perez and his backers, along with several other creditors, brought action against the team.

It was announced soon after that a consortium of investors, led by Lawrence Stroll, had acquired the team, though reports emerged this week plunging the squad into uncertainty.

The team’s motorhome and trucks have been stripped of the Force India name and logo in the Spa-Francorchamps paddock amid uncertainty over the situation regarding its entry and assets.

Perez, though, has stressed that Force India is preparing for the Belgian Grand Prix as normal, and has praised the efforts of engineers, mechanics, and other staff members.

“This team is a bit used to being in difficult situations, and you know, we’re coming out of a difficult position,” said Perez.

“I think the team is always ready, we have great team members, and the people back home are performing at their best.

“Everyone is very motivated, which I have to thank everyone for that, so I’m very much looking forward to it.”

When pressed on whether he had any doubt over Force India’s participation at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, Perez replied: “As far as I’m concerned no, so it’s business as usual.”

Perez also dropped a firm hint that he will be remaining with the team into 2019, for what would be his sixth season at the outfit.

“I know what I am doing for next year, so when there is a time to communicate I think I will communicate but for now I know what I am doing for next year, so no more to say on that,” he said.
