MP Motorsport has confirmed that Devlin DeFrancesco will miss this weekend’s GP3 Series round at the Hungaroring after falling ill on Friday.
DeFrancesco is suffering from gastroenteritis and initially sat out Friday morning's practice session with the intention of competing in qualifying on Saturday.
However the team reported his symptoms have worsened and he has therefore been declared unfit to race this weekend, meaning he has been forced to withdraw.
"Having run well at the Hungaroring already this season, in the FIA European Formula Three Championship, Devlin is understandably disappointed to miss out on the opportunity to go well again but must prioritise his health," a team statement said.
The withdrawal comes ahead of GP3's summer break and means DeFrancesco won't be back behind the wheel until round 6 at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of August.
