Milan will host the next Formula 1 Fan Festival, running in tandem with the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at nearby Monza.
Formula 1 held its first Fan Festival in London during the build-up to last year’s British Grand Prix and events were organised in Shanghai and Marseille alongside Grands Prix in China and France this season.
The Fan Festival will be held in the Darsena district of Milan from Wednesday 29 August to Saturday 1 September, with live F1 show runs and music events planned.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce the 2018 Formula 1 Milan Festival,” said commercial chief Sean Bratches.
“Motor racing is in the DNA of this beautiful city, as is fashion and creativity.
“Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport, is the perfect partner to blend advanced engineering with the glamour and cutting edge inventiveness of the Milan fashion houses, as well as the historic heritage of its art and culture.
“We aim to put our fans at the centre of our sport, and the Milan fan festival will do just that, welcoming families and fans throughout the day and the evening in the heart of the city, sharing the magic of Formula 1 with open arms.”
The Italian Grand Prix is one of motorsport’s oldest event, with Monza hosting the event for the first time in 1922, and the high-speed circuit failing to feature on the Formula 1 calendar just once.
Formula 1’s fourth and final 2018 Fan Festival will be held in Miami in October, despite plans for a Grand Prix in the American city being put on hold until 2020.
