Trident has confirmed that David Beckmann will join the GP3 Series squad for the remainder of the 2018 season following his exit from the Jenzer team.
The 18-year-old German joined Jenzer at the start of the season as one of its three drivers alongside Tatiana Calderon and Juan Manuel Correa, but it was announced on Monday that Jannes Fittje would replace Beckmann from Hungary onwards.
However Beckmann moves to Trident following the promotion of Alessio Lorandi to Formula 2 as Santino Ferrucci's replacement, after the American's contract was terminated following an incident at the Silverstone round of the F2 championship.
He joins the four-car team alongside Pedro Piquet, Giuliano Alesi, and Ryan Tveter.
"David Beckmann is a driver of undisputed value and I am delighted to see him join the line-up of Team Trident in the GP3 Series," commented team manager Giacomo Ricci.
"I am sure that he will find an environment to thrive in so to lay good foundations and achieve great results already this season and in the future. David is joining a well-established and successful context and he will definitely be able to benefit from it."
Beckmann added: "I am delighted to join such an ambitious and passionate team. I think that, by working hard together, we will be able to experience a successful second half of the season."
