Force India test driver Nicholas Latifi is set for his second free practice run of the season at next weekend’s Formula 1 German Grand Prix.
Latifi joined Force India at the start of the year as back-up to Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, having previously completed runs in Mercedes and Renault machinery.
Latifi participated in the post-race test in Barcelona and returned to the VJM11 for the opening practice session at his home Grand Prix in Canada last month.
Force India confirmed on Tuesday that Latifi will pilot the car again at next Friday’s first session at Hockenheim, in place of Ocon.
Latifi’s schedule has been freed up next weekend due to Formula 2, in which he competes for DAMS, not joining Formula 1 at the German Grand Prix.
Latifi will also conduct duties on the opening day of the post-race test in Hungary at the end of the month, before development driver Nikita Mazepin takes over for the second day.
Mazepin, fourth in the GP3 standings, has made occasional outings for Force India during testing across the last few years.
