Romain Grosjean will not participate in Friday’s second practice session in Britain after his crash during the opening 90 minutes of running.
Grosjean spun through Abbey after he did not close the DRS on his VF-18, and hit the wall, the front-left of his car sustaining substantial damage.
Grosjean’s earlier time was nonetheless sufficient for the Frenchman to wind up in seventh place, at the helm of the midfield group.
But Grosjean will not be out this afternoon after Haas confirmed that the damage sustained means his car requires a change of chassis.
Grosjean’s team-mate Kevin Magnussen was also in strife in FP1 after coming close to Fernando Alonso out on track, and is currently meeting stewards to discuss a potentially dangerous manoeuvre.
Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton led a 1-2 for the team in the session.
