Sergey Sirotkin left disappointed with Austria result after good start

Williams' Sergey Sirotkin was left disappointed with his result in the Austrian Grand Prix after making yet another solid start to a Grand Prix.

The Russian made a great getaway from the grid which is quickly becoming a trademark of his and Williams' behaviour so far in 2018. As the race wore on he was unable to keep his rivals behind him and continued to slip back through the field.

Due to the high temperatures on the circuit seen throughout race day, Sirotkin also became a victim of the blistering which was occurring amongst the other drivers in the field which meant a two-stop strategy was in order to compound the problems already being experienced by the Grove-based outfit.

"It was a very disappointing race," said Sirotkin. "Straight away at the start, I was doing so well, but every time I was on the inside and very close to the collisions.

"However, with traffic ahead I was always slowing down to not hit the cars in front. Instead of gaining the positions, I’m afraid I lost a bit.

"From then onwards, I was in clean air and everything looked ok and I was keeping a few cars behind me.

"We pitted early and tried to be quite aggressive and push hard straight away in the second stint, but, I ran out of tyres. So overall, a disappointing day."

Sirotkin is now the only driver yet to score a single point in 2018 after Haas' Romain Grosjean got off the mark with a fourth-place finish.

Williams also remains at the foot of the Constructors' Championship with only four points thanks to Lance Stroll's eighth-place finish in Baku.
