Nyck De Vries powered through to win the Formula 2 sprint race around the Paul Ricard circuit, his and Prema's first victory of the season.

The Dutch driver battled with the leaders in the early stages and after making his way eventually hunted down the Charouz of Louis Deletraz and passed the Swiss driver with clinical precision.

Luca Ghiotto also made up places from his starting position to take his second podium of the weekend after getting his first after Mehri's disqualification from the feature race.

Charouz finish with both in the cars in the top four as Antonio Fuoco battled hard to fend off his rivals behind, rounding off a solid weekend for the Italian driver.

After a tough feature race where he stalled at the start, Lando Norris stormed through the field to clinch fifth-place which could be crucial in the title battle with George Russell failing to make the start and scored no points.

Sergio Sette Camara battled hard with his Carlin team-mate but eventually lost out to the championship leader but the Brazilian had to settle for sixth place.

DAMS' Alexander Albon suffered mechanical issues in the feature race but was able to make his way through the field from 18th place to follow the Carlin's across the line for seventh-place.

Nicholas Latifi led the field away after Tadasuke Makino got an awful start from pole position, unfortunately for the Canadian driver, his pace was not able to keep in the fight for victory very long.

As the final lap began Norris past Latifi for fifth place and as the DAMS driver tried to make a late lunge into Turn 1, he made contact with the Carlin car to causing him to lock up horrendously and lose most of his front wing, eventually settling for eighth and final point paying position.

Formula 2 action will resume next week in Austria on June 30 and July 1.
