Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has outlined that a one-stop strategy will be the quickest approach at the French Grand Prix.
Pirelli has nominated the Ultrasoft, Supersoft and Soft compounds for the event at Paul Ricard, with drivers encountering little in the way of degradation.
Pirelli says a 20-25 lap stint on Ultrasofts, followed by a run to the flag on Supersofts, is preferable, with a similar Supersoft/Ultrasoft strategy also possible for the 53-lap race.
A ‘slightly slower one-stopper’ is a 21-lap stint on Ultrasofts before running to the end on Softs.
Pirelli has also identified an ‘even slower two-stopper’, unlikely to be used, which would result in two stints of 19 laps on Ultrasofts, prior to a late stop for Supersofts.
Of the top 10, the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers will start on the Supersoft tyres, with the rest on Ultrasofts.
Drivers outside of the top 10 are permitted free choice of dry tyres from the three nominated compounds.
