Renault Academy driver Christian Lundgaard will make his GP3 debut with MP Motorsport replacing Will Palmer for the French round in Paul Ricard.
The Dane races for MP Motorsport in the Formula Renault Eurocup series and will be making a one-off appearance for the weekend, he will also be the youngest driver in the field at just 16 years of age.
Lundgaard has recent experience of the La Castallet circuit having raced there in April in the Eurocup series, he finishing in fifth-place in the first race and took home a podium finish after collecting a third-place finish in race two.
"It’s a very big opportunity for me to be competing in the GP3 Series," said Lundgaard. "It’ll be a whole new experience for me, especially driving a car with a lot more horsepower and downforce to what I’m used to.
"I’ll be out there aiming to get the best results possible and trying to learn as much as I can in a short space of time. I know the circuit quite well from racing in the Formula Renault Eurocup there this year, so I can take that as a small advantage.
"A big thank you to everyone who has made this happen, I’ll be giving it my best."
The Danish driver will line-up alongside France's Dorian Boccolacci.
