After securing his first podium since the 2016 London E-Prix at Battersea Park, Jerome d'Ambrosio has pinned his third-place finish in Zurich on his strong performance in qualifying.

In qualifying, d'Ambrosio, alongside his Dragon Racing team-mate Jose Maria Lopez, secured a place in Super Pole, forcing Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi out of the final top-five qualifying run.

Through his one-shot lap and pace, the Belgian racer secured fourth on the grid, lining up on the second row of the field alongside DS Virgin Racing's Sam Bird.

When the lights went out for the 39 lap lakeside street race, d'Ambrosio briefly maintained fourth place before being passed by di Grassi and Buemi, dropping to sixth place in the overall order. This later became seventh on lap 19 when Jean-Eric Vergne, who started in 17th, found a way past moments before the deployment of a full course yellow.

Subsequent penalties for Mitch Evans, Andre Lotterer, Buemi and Vergne promoted d'Ambrosio into third place  – a result that marked his fifth Formula E podium in four seasons.

"We had a good qualifying in Paris, in Berlin and again [in Zurich] – that’s gone a long way to allowing me to have a result like today, which was very important for the team.

"Formula E is about consistency and putting everything together.

"There is a tremendous amount of work for the driver in the car, we have to take into account many things – you just have to be on top of everything and that’s part of being a good driver in this series.”

Third place in Zurich marks d'Ambrosio's highest finishing position of Season Four, with 15 points promoting him to 13th place in the Drivers' Championship while Dragon Racing are only six points adrift of NIO in the Teams' Standings.
