The Pramac Ducati team will run a special yeallow and black Lamborghini livery in Sunday's 23-lap MotoGP Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.
Lamborghini's parent company Audi owns Italian manufacturer Ducati, with the Pramac team one of its three customer teams present on the current MotoGP grid alongside the Nieto and Avintia squads.
Pramac held its 2018 launch event prior to the start of the new season in March at Lamborghini's headquarters, and will sport this one-off Centro Stile-designed livery to “consolidate the relationship” between Ducati and the luxury car brand.
“We had the privilige and honour of being guests in the spectacular Urus line to baptise our 2018 MotoGP season,” Pramac team boss Paolo Campinoti said.
“We like to think that we can reciprocate by putting these fabulous Ducati Desmosedici in the colours of Lamborghini during our home GP.
“The start of the season has given us great satisfaction with Danilo [Petrucci] and Jack [Miller]. We want to continue this path and we have to do it from tomorrow.”
Former Ferrari Formula 1 team boss and current Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stefan Domenicali added: “First of all, I would like to thank Paolo Campinoti for this wonderful opportunity.
“Lamborghini is an ambassador of Made in Italy throughout the world and is a company projected towards the future, with particular attention to young people who are also our customers.
“I, therefore, believe that our special presence in the world of MotoGP is a perfect occasion. The Alma Pramac Racing’s Ducati Desmosedici GP livery designed for the race by our Centro Stile, make us particularly proud.
“On behalf of all Automobili Lamborghini, a big good luck for a fantastic Gran Premio d’Italia to Petrucci and Miller, as well as to all Ducati Corse, a brand to which we are linked as a result to belonging to the same group.”
Petrucci will line up fifth for his home race on Sunday, with teammate Miller 11th having come through Q1 on Saturday.
Petrucci currently sits fifth in the standings on 54 points after a second last time out at Le Mans, with Miller five points adrift in sixth.
Both riders are currently in the frame to replace Jorge Lorenzo at the factory Ducati squad next year, who is expected to make a shock return to Yamaha with a satellite team.
Petrucci – who currently rides a factory GP18 – is thought to be favourite to join Andrea Dovizioso, with Miller expected to remain at Pramac to ride a GP19 alongside his factory stablemates.
Moto2 championship leader and Valentino Rossi-backed Francesco Bagnaia will make his MotoGP next year with Pramac, after signing a two-year deal direct with Ducati.
