Alexander Albon claimed a second straight Formula 2 pole position on Friday as he clocked the quickest time around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track in Spain.
Albon set a best time of a 1m 28.142s whilst running in the gap of the 30 minute-long session, which was disrupted by a red flag after Trident's Santino Ferrucci crashed in Turn 9.
Prema Racing's Nyck de Vries was Albon's nearest challenger, 0.227s adrift of the Thai driver, while Luca Ghiotto completed the top three qualifiers for Campos.
Mercedes junior George Russell qualified in fourth place and led his ART Grand Prix team-mate, Jack Aitken, who qualified in fifth.
Nicholas Latifi was sixth fastest in the second DAMS car and held second for a large portion of the session before being shuffled down the order during the final runs of the session.
Tadasuke Makino (Russian Time) was seventh while championship leader Lando Norris (Carlin) was eighth, as MP Motorsport pair Ralph Boschung and Roberto Merhi completed the top 10.
Sergio Sette Camara – Norris' closest challenger in the standings – lifted himself up to 14th spot late on after being sidelined by mechanical issues, while Renault-backed Artem Markelov had another dismal qualifying session, taking only 19th.
