Jenson Button has completed his first test with SMP Racing ahead of his FIA World Endurance Championship debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next month.
Button, 38, will race alongside Vitaly Petrov and Mikhail Aleshin in the #11 SMP-backed BR Engineering BR1 LMP1 car in the WEC's 2018/19 superseason whilst also competing in the GT500 category of the Super GT Championship.
"I'm smiling from ear to ear," wrote Button on his Instagram account.
"Has my first test in @smp_racing BR1 and absolutely loved it, nice for the first test to be around Magny Cours as it's one of my favourite circuits and I have a lot of great memories from racing there, it felt very much like 'old skool' F1 from when we raced there back in '05/'06.
"A solid 5hrs of testing and I'm already feeling comfortable behind the wheel of the beast!
"Still some areas of improvement needed but a good starting point thanks to Vitaly and Mikhail.'"
Button was set to compete at the 6 Hours of Spa last weekend, however, was unable to due to a calendar clash with his commitments to the Super GT Championship.
