Toyota’s pole-winning #7 car has been excluded from the results of qualifying for WEC's season-opening 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway had combined to give the #7, which is also piloted by Jose Maria Lopez, top spot on the grid, ahead of the sister #8 machine.
However the #7 entry has had all of its times deleted for an “incorrect declaration of fuel flow metre”, meaning the #8 of Fernando Alonso, Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi will now start from pole position.
It marks Alonso’s first pole position for an FIA-sanctioned event since Formula 1's 2012 German Grand Prix.
Rebellion Racing will now share the front row of the grid with the #8.
The #7 car is permitted to start from the pit lane for Saturday's race, but can do so 'only after the last car in the field has covered the first lap and following directions from the Race Director'.
