Two-time FIM World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi has joined Venturi as the Monegasque squad's brand ambassador.
Biaggi got his first taste of Formula E machinery last weekend at the inaugural Rome ePrix where the Italian racer drove the all-electric championship's demonstration car around the streets of the Eternal City.
In the role, Biaggi will help to expand the Venturi brand before its 20th anniversary in 2020 and will also work with the eight drivers that the team recently signed to its young driver programme – the first of its kind for electric racing with its lineup including current GP3 racer Dorian Boccolacci and Arthur Leclerc, brother of F1 rookie and Formula 2 champion Charles Leclerc.
"I am very happy to start this new venture with an ambitious and pioneer man such as Gildo [Pastor] is," said Biaggi, who has been a friend of the manufacturer's CEO for over 15 years.
"We both have the desire to explore new projects, reaching new targets and go beyond.
"I am looking forward to a productive partnership and to contribute on the ongoing Venturi growth process."
After seven races in Season Four of the Formula E championship, Venturi sit in seventh in the Teams' Standings with 40 points, with Edoardo Mortara claiming the team's best result of the season in Hong Kong, when he placed second.
"I have great affection for Max," added Pastor, Venturi's CEO. "He's open, determined and passionate, just as he was when I first met him.
"It is an honour for us to have him wear the Venturi colours. Undoubtedly, his presence at our side will help us in our growth process," he added.
