Dreyer & Reinbold Racing have confirmed their second entry for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 27.
JR Hildebrand will join Sage Karam at DRR, bringing the 2018 field to 34 cars and therefore the return of 'Bump Day' as IndyCar specifies a maximum grid of 33 cars.
Hildebrand hasn't raced in IndyCar in 2018 after he was dropped by Ed Carpenter Racing last year. The Indy 500 will mark his return to DRR where he began his IndyCar career, having contested two rounds with the team in 2010.
Hildebrand will drive the #66 car – a decision he said was his: "Really am pumped to do it this year with DRR," he wrote on social media. "Got my first call-up to the big leagues from Dennis [Reinbold], got a bunch of great guys that I've worked with before, and their whip's been pretty damn fast with Sage Karam behind the wheel last few years. Ready to get after it!
"Plus, extra pumped to be in the #66 – Been lucky to have some say in my number a few times, this one from selection to design was really fun though."
