IndyCar newcomer Rene Binder has added June’s Detroit double-header to his 2018 race programme.
GP2/F2 veteran Binder linked up with Juncos for four street/road course events this year and classified 22nd on his debut at St. Petersburg.
Binder was initially scheduled to run at Barber, Toronto and Mid-Ohio but has now also been confirmed to drive the No. 32 entry for the back-to-back races around the streets of Belle Isle.
“After looking back at my first race weekend in the IndyCar Series, there were a lot of positives to take away,” said Binder.
“I was able to challenge myself as a driver in a new series and car. I want to thank everyone for their kind words and for the support I have been given as a rookie.
“[Detroit] is also the home of our engine partner Chevrolet which is even more motivation for us to give our best.
“I am confident that our team paired with our powerful Chevrolet engine will help us deliver a positive result.”
The expansion of Binder’s programme means Juncos will now partake in 10 races, with fellow rookie Kyle Kaiser set for four rounds as part of his prize for taking last season’s Indy Lights title.
