American youngster Santino Ferrucci will continue on as Haas' development driver for the 2018 season.
Ferrucci joined the team back in 2016 and was the first American to drive an American Formula 1 car since Danny Ongais drove for Penske in 1977.
During his time at Haas, the 19-year old has completed two official test outings with the team, the first of which came during the young driver test at a two-day test at Silverstone in 2016, he also completed more than 1,900 kilometres of testing at the 2017 young driver test in Hungary.
"We’re pleased to have Santino back with Haas F1 Team and we look forward to his continuing development in F2,” said Guenther Steiner, team principal, Haas F1 Team.
"Santino is a young, American driver with plenty of potential and we’re very supportive of his desire to make it to Formula One."
In 2018 Ferrucci will compete for the Trident team in the FIA Formula 2 championship alongside another Haas development driver in the shape of India's Arjun Maini; the championship will begin on the weekend of April 7-8 in support of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
"I said it when I first became a part of Haas F1 Team – my goal since I began racing is to become a Formula One driver, and to be an American who is part of an American team is something I take a tremendous amount of pride in," said Ferrucci.
"My time with Haas F1 Team has really prepared me for my first full F2 season with Trident, and between the two teams I feel like I’m in the best position to succeed and, ultimately, get to Formula 1."
