Anthoine Hubert ended the first day of GP3 testing at Jerez on top of the timesheets as teams continued their preparations ahead of the 2018 season.
The ART driver set the fastest time of the day in the afternoon session with a 1:30:449, a mere 0.022 seconds clear of compatriot Dorian Boccalacci (MP Motorsport) with Leonardo Pulcini (Campos Racing) third, all setting their fastest times within a tenth of each other.
Alessio Lorandi in the Trident ended the day in fourth place, in front of Finland's Simo Laaksonen and Giuliano Alesi.
Brazil's Pedro Piquet could only manage seventh fastest on the day ahead of Force India's development driver Nikita Mazepin (ART) and Ryan Tveter (Trident).
Ex-Red Bull junior Niko Kari rounded out the top 10 for MP Motorsport.
Testing will continue at the Andalusian venue on Thursday, with one final two-day session planned for Barcelona next month, ahead of the season-opening round at the Spanish Grand Prix circuit in May.
