Formula E has decided it won't replace the cancelled Montreal ePrix double-header, meaning the season four (2017/18) calendar will drop from its original 14 races to just 12, ending in New York.
Montreal had been due to host a double-header season finale in late-July, but city mayor Valérie Plante announced it would either be relocated to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve or scrapped altogether, due to unpaid bills.
With the former not an option due to scheduled construction work for a new Formula 1 pit and paddock complex, Plante had no other option but to cancel the race, forcing Formula E bosses to look at potential replacements.
A Birmingham event was tabled, as was a race at the Norisring, but both failed to gather enough support due to the tight timescales involved in getting a new event sorted within a matter of months. Meanwhile adding a Sunday race to Rome's already sold-out Saturday event was also rejected.
The season will therefore end with a double-header in New York on July 15, with the move costing teams a combined £660,000 (€750,000) in prize money, due to the shortened calendar.
